On February 20th urbanOvation convened a group of 25 leading investment managers for our 6th "Long Table" event. The meeting was held at 180 the Strand, a unique mixed-use redevelopment in the heart of London and sponsored by the Saïd Business School at Oxford University.
The real estate industry faces a convergence of challenges in 2024 that demand new and innovative strategies. High interest rates, shorter leases, increasing occupier power and more focus on sustainability all mean more cash flow and investment risk. In response, many investment managers are seeking high-yielding operational strategies and to prolong the life and liquidity of assets.
We kicked off with a tour of this extraordinary building led by owner/developer Mark Wadhwa. Andrew Baum and Valentina Shegoyan then prompted a spirited dinner conversation with a summary of their recent report 'The real Estate Investment Manager of the Future'.
